How Can We Stay Connected While Social Distancing?

By Margaret, 18 March, 2020.
There is no need to feel totally isolated or lonely while social distancing during coronavirus. Fortunately, technology offers countless ways to stay connected to family, friends, and community.

  • Nextdoor is a great way to connect with your neighbours. You can connect with others, check in on the vulnerable around you, and if you have extra supplies that someone else needs, you can drop them off at your neighbours house.

  • Often our dearest friends and family do not live in the same place. So, why not use Facetime or Skype hangouts and organise coffee dates or lunches on a regular basis. Maybe there is someone you have met, can't meet up with in person, but would like to continue to get to know.

  • Netflex Parties Chrome has a plugin that lets you watch your favourite Netflex show at the same time as your friends.  It helps you feel like you are sharing the experience.

  • You can take a virtual tour. Take a tour of the Louvre and see such things as Egyptian Antiquities. Or you can take a virtual tour of the Van Gogh Museum. If you haven't had the opportunity to explore the Yellowstone National Park, you can do that online as well.

In times of great stress or adversity, it’s always best to keep busy, to plow your anger and your energy into something positive.” – Lee Iacoc

If you have had any time around us, you will know that I stand strongly for kindness and consideration. During these unknown times, please treat each other and yourselves in that same spirit.
