321-It's almost New Year

By Margaret, 29 December, 2022.
It's almost New Year.
Are you are working on a list of resolutions for this year?
You can make resolutions such as to quit smoking, to have more work life balance, to lose weight or to meet someone special. But we can only live one day at a time. Perhaps a better way is to concentrate on living in the present each day and honouring our commitment to ourselves "each day." If you have been able to keep to your exercise routine, or eat healthily for a few days, let that stronger person make the decision on how to act the next day..

There is a myth that it takes about 21 days to form a new habit. Phillippa Lally is a health psychology researcher at University College London. In a study published in the European Journal of Social Psychology, Lally and her research team decided to figure out just how long it actually takes to form a habit.

Their findings showed that it varies from 18 to 254 days. But, on average it takes 2 months or 66 days to change a pattern of behaviour. Interestingly, the researchers also found that if a person missed performing the behaviour for a day or two here and there, it didn't impact on the overall success in acquiring the habit.

Don't be too hard on yourself it you slip back into old ways. It won't make a difference overall. You don't have to be perfect. Give yourself permission to mess up sometimes before you start. Just get back on track and feel good about yourself. You are a magnificent human being.

Spend some time noticing what you completed and accomplished in 2022. As you know, what you pay attention expands. If you can spend time and attention contemplating all that you achieved (even if they are small things), it sets the stage for you to receive more blessings and better health.

So look back and feel all the good things that happened last year. Then look to 2022 with excitement. It’s a new beginning, pregnant with of all kinds of potential. So make sure you plan to spend at least a little time each day doing what brings you joy!" What will you shine a light on? Start by making a list of all that you’ve accomplished in 2022. This is the perfect way to plant the seeds for brighter future.

If you would like to make a change for the better in your social life and meet new friends or a partner, you can speak to us to learn a little more about our singles dinners.

Just remember, you don't need to change anything externally about yourself or your life.  You only need to let go of those obstacles you have that are holding you back. Instead of spending another year hoping for love that doesn't show up, you can contact us so that we can organise to have you out and meeting our fabulous members at dinners as soon as this weekend. You'll be amazed by how quickly it can happen.
